Want to meet one of the newest leaders in Greenville's entrepreneur ecosystem? Tyler Lane is joining us to moderate our next event! He runs the Greenville Local Development Corporation, a nonprofit originally created by the City in 1979 that has supported development by writing grants, loans, and equity checks here ever since.

Tyler is their first full-time hire. He just moved here from Ohio, where he ran a finance authority that structured eight-figure deals. He doesn't write the checks. He's the one who vets companies before they go to the board.

He's joined by Chris Petrella, who builds funding stacks so founders don't have to chase VCs, Blake Blakeborough, whose 12-week Launchpad cohorts train Greenville tech founders, and Atlanta's Jemiah Battle, who invests in innovation across the Southeast.

Every person on this panel sits somewhere between a founder and the money. Come find out what they're looking for!

None of them are developers. None of them, or their classmates, had built anything with AI eight weeks ago. That's until taking "Applied AI for Professional Practice" through Furman University’s graduate studies program. See what they built, and why this pilot course deserves a second round.

Community Opportunity

Students at Wade Hampton High School will be fundraising for the Barbara Stone Foundation for Spirit Week '26 this fall. The Greenville non-profit's mission is to improve the lives of neighbors with disabilities. Students are collecting silent auction items now. If you have a product, service, or experience you can put up, it's a straightforward way to give back and get in front of a few hundred WHHS families at the same time. Email me at cherish@i4series.com and I'll get you connected.

  • Spartanburg's Dennis Hayes created the Hayes Smartmodem and the AT command set, the standard that told PCs how to get online. 😮 In his latest SpartansFirst technology blog, Dennis breaks down NVIDIA's Cosmos 3 and world foundation models - AI trained to predict what happens next in physical space rather than what word comes next.

  • Applications are now open for Launchpad's fall cohorts. The 12-week program takes founders from idea to first customer, with weekly mentor sessions, a tight-knit peer group, and accountability along the way. If you're an early stage tech founder, check out their website to learn more and apply.
